Think we've fixed the sticky relay:

My old friend down here in FLorida took my lathe's electrics and has been able to take the sticky relay apart, clean the corrosion off the inards, re-assemble and sent me a video of both relays working excelently! Thanks Freddy!

So, now to find a new power on light and jog switch; perhas from a big surplus place over in Orlando and we'll be squared away; I'm hoping anyway :).

Hey Mike!

Good luck in your search, Peter. Hope this new machine works out for you.
Mike from CT now OH....

Good to hear from you. Are you shooting in Ohio? The machine is a teaser Mike. The construction form of it is nice however, the execution is what everyone has always said those machines are, not so great. It's pretty tough to find an affordable hobiest lathe that would fit the paramaters I have to work with and want in a machine. Being a "Settler", I settled for the size I wanted made out of adobe. It was either that or find a 4" 10L and I wanted a DRO on it in the worst way so here I am.

Happy New Year.

Haven't started shooting officially yet, but plan on getting down to Chippewa for their club matches. Building a new 30br (should have gone for a ppc, but I think I might convert my current 30 to a lv, barrel a ppc and try some, gulp, group) this winter on the ol south bend so we shall see if it can run with my other rifle. Got the lathe leveled at indicated and now just need to wire up the Bridgeport and we will be in full business.
Enjoy that beautiful weather down south!

did I understand that you have a Rutland lathe similar to mine? The reason I ask is that on mine the emergency stop switch is loose and has caused the power light to not come on. The emergency switch is pushed to activate but is rotated right to reset. I surmise that a previous user had tried to pull the switch to reset and pulled it loose. It appears that you have to remove all the levers to remove the faceplate so you can access the wiring. Does that sound similar to yours?

The name on my lathe is Central Machinery but it is a clone of a Rutland, from the look of it. Yes, you will need only to remove the handles. They screw easily out of their bases. The switches and light are held on to the panel with nuts that can be tightened easily. The light bulb in mine was a 30V screw in base and not easy to find locally. McMaster-Carr has them, 5 to a card, which may be worth doing. I found a new light here at a salvage place that takes a different style base. There is no big deal with taking the front panel off' pretty simple.
