My good friend Geramo Villareal posted my pictures of that big align boring job on the big Dredge Boat down in Corpus Christi. As I said before, this is just about as far from CAD-CAM machine work as you can get. But, none the less, it is still machine work. Darned expensive machine work......jackie

Snuffy

The holes I bored are the main boom ladder abutments and the main boom ladder trunion mounts on a big 30" Dredge Boat. The "boom ladder", which is about 100 feet long, is the unit that goes down into the water,, (it pivots on that trunion) with a large cutter head and suction pipe, which litterally chops the bottom up and sucks the slurry up through a huge pump, pushing it for miles through large pipes to a dredge "spill site", (sort of like a landfill).
The main pump on this thing has about 6000 hp. That "ladder boom" weighs about 280 tons. The pins that go into the holes I bored weigh about 4500 pounds, each.
This is one "industrial size" piece of equipment.........jackie
