Butch,
This was my crazy idea!! I have been planning this for several years. Finally moved forward with it.

I think we will have our hands full trying to best the Aussies at their own game. I am opening the range for practice days to get ready at no charge. The Aussies have 30 years worth of practice and match experience, we have 3 months to learn this game and get ready!!!!! Official targets will be available but you will have to purchase them. You can shoot at steel plates or bring your own targets. Bring white spray Kilz to paint your plates.
Practice days will be:
July 22
August 19
September 9
Other dates can be arranged for shooters pre-registered in the match to come out to Pine Valley to practice.

It is always hard to beat anyone else at their own game. And as Mike said, the Aussies have years of experience at this. But, that does not keep you from trying. Nor does it keep you from having a great time doing it. I suspect that everyone who shows up to shoot this will have a good time. After all, it is a requirement per their Fly Shoot rules. :D

Had some questions about how match winner is named.
The overall match winner will be the shooter with the highest aggregate score of five targets regardless of class. So the winner could be a light gun or a heavy gun. Shooting both classes in not required to be the match champion. The match champion will also be the winner of what ever class he or she shot in.
Awards will be for:
Match Champion
LightGun Winner (five target agg)
Heavy Gun Winner (five target agg)
Highestscoring (single)Target light gun
Highest scoring(single)Target heavy gun
Smallest (single)group light gun
Smallest (single)group heavy gun
2 Gun Winner
Cash payout for 1st thru 4th overall scores

Darn, Mike. This is something I would like to attend, but I will be at the NBRSA Group Nationals in Saint Louis.

Sounds like a fun format.

Had to change the July practice day to July 22
Sorry for the mix up. Hard to pick a date that doesn't have conflicts.
Pre-registered shooters can call to set up additional practice days.

Had another question about cash payout and prize table.
The match at Pine Valley and the match at Canberra are stand alone matches. Each range will payout winners and have their own prize table. The combining of the scores for the postal match are for bragging rights only.

Prize table donations for the Pine Valley match are starting to come in:
Alloy Targets
Sierra Bullets
L.E. Wilson
Whidden Gunworks
Solid Accuracy
Pine Valley Precision
K&M Precision
Redding
Burris
Krieger

On August 19th. we will be having our second practice day at Pine Valley Benchrest in Huntsville TX for the upcoming Texas vs Australia Fly Match that will be held September 23 at Pine Valley.
For those of you that will be entering the match but live too far away to make practice days, I can arrange to send you targets you can use to practice if you have a place to shoot at 500 meters. Seeing the target and getting to shoot at it before the match will be helpful.Sorry but I need to recoup the cost of the targets and postage to you.
Donations for the prize tablehave been arriving from suppliers, these will be given away by drawing after the match.
The match has Light Gun and Heavy Gun classes. You can shoot your light gun in both classes if you choose too. The Match Winner will be the shooter with the best 5 target agg no matter which class he or she shot in.There will also be awards for the following:
Light gun winner
Heavy gun winner
Two gun winner
Best Light gun group
Best Heavy gun group
Best light gun score
Best heavy gun score

Pre registration is strongly recommend. We will draw benches Thursday night by random computer drawing. Those registering on Saturday morning will be assigned a bench from the ones not drawn Thursday night. Friday before match will be practice day and those there will know their bench assignment and can get their flags set then.
I have attached the Rules and Entry form.
Please read the rules and call me with any questions. You can also go to the websiteand get more info. 500mflyshoot.com
There is a posting on 6br forum in the Competition section. The more activity we have on the forum the better the donors feel about sending prize table items.
This will be a postal match against the Aussies shooting at Canberra Australia.
Each match will name their winners then we will combine the scores from both matches and post the winners of the combined match scores.

Embroidered "fly patches" are being made in Australia by the same people that make them for the Aussie fly shooters.
Shooters receive a patch with a number on it that corresponds to the number of shots that hit the fly in the center of the 10 ring

Saturday the 9th of September will be the next scheduled practice day.
The range is set up for the match now so you can practice on the actual targets with the sighter plates below them.
Pre-registration is highly appreciated due to the complications of drawing benches with shooters shooting two classes and sharing equipment.
Bench draw will be Thursday before the match. Those arriving Friday and Saturday morning that haven't registered will draw benches from the available benches in C and D relay.
Friday the 22nd will be a practice day also. Registered shooters can set their wind flags out Friday and leave them set for Saturday.
Prize table items will be given away by random drawing.
