Temecula fifty Yard Airgun Benchrest Match, Sunday, Feb. 21

The targets

I see some folks continue to "wonder" why we use the A36 target. Well, its alwyas been a favorite of mine for evaluating accuracy of both rimfire and airgun target rifles at 50yds, and when we tried some of the others such as BR50, etc. The scoring seemed tedious, and, frankly, there seemed more luck involved than we liked with the BR50 card.

We got a case of targets, n=1000 donated by Tim at Mac1 .... I think he said they cost him around $76. Mayhaps when they are near gone, we might look into something else, or could be not.

Whats the thought on no recharging your gun during the match ?:D boy howdy I need all the air I can get.H.B.

thanks, do I have this right ? after 30 shots ? or what.H.B.:)

"do I have this right"?

No recharging during a leg, this means, once the line is hot and you begin shooting at your targets, which consists of thirty record shots, plus all the sighters you want for 15 minutes, you don't recharge. Of course this rles does NOT apply to springers or other guns that are not precharged with air or co2.

At my last match, I shot TWO full legs (cards?) plus sighters on the same charge. I did it on accident, by simply forgetting to recharge on the last leg, but well, I DID win the match anyhow. The gun is a USFT set up specifically for bench shooting, and was fitted with HW .22 cal barrel, firing JSB 18.1gr at around 875fps.

A couple times when I shot down at Project 2000 range, I shot two legs on the same charge with my other gun (my regular Field Target rifle), but of course THOSE cards only needed 25 record shots plus sighters. I usually fire three, or at most four sighters per leg.

The rule is intended to discourage the use of guns tethered to a tank, or set to use so much air they need recharged during a leg.

thanks, now that make sence ! wow i just seen some .177 pellets at i think at 16 grs. pyramid air.. well maybe with the right gun could be a winner who know's in this sport huh.. good shooting . H.B.:D

16gr .177 pellets?

Heck yes, if you was to use THEM, you would be near SURE to win! Only thing keeps us safe is its so far for you guys to come all the way up this way.

Now that I think about this

We have been shooting outdoor airgun benchrest regularly for a couple years now, and have never been shut down for rain yet .... gofigger!

It has something to do with the rain god's , any way I'm going to let the cat out of the bag---:D the name is EUN JIN pellets..now if your gun is up to it. this is the hot ticket for 50 yds...there now you know...your pal H.B.;)

Yes, I'm pretty familar with those pellets

They are also makers of 28gr, and even 31gr pellets in .22 cal. I have some older .177 pellets branded "Dae Sung" that are 15gr that seem to shoot a bit better than the currently available"Eun Jin" brand pellets, though I suspect they come from the same factory.

To be frank, I have tried these extra heavy ones, and they don't do quite so well for me as the lighter ones I use now do. Great for huntin jackrabbits, but not quite so good on smaller stuff at long range.

I test my combo's in the 51 yard tunnel first, and if they can't do pretty well there, I don't go farther with testing em for competition.

:) great -do you have a way to size them ? sort them out by weight and so on ? any way good going.and good luck .BTW it's easier to take the weight off than to add weight to those lil buggers. your friend H.B.:D
