The 2011 Air Rifle Benchrest World Championships are scheduled for July 30, 2011 through August 7, 2011 at Palmetto Gun Club in Charleston, South Carolina.
Team USA qualifying requirements are outlined below and at usairriflebenchrest.com. We wish all shooters good luck in their qualifying efforts.
1.Qualifying will begin on November 1, 2010 and continue through May 31, 2011.
2.Qualifying will consist of shooting three (3) targets, outdoors between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. with the overall Aggregate Score and X count for those three targets being submitted for consideration to the Qualifying Committee.
3.Qualifying will be offered in each of four (4) Rifle Classes, as defined by the World Rimfire & Air Rifle Benchrest Federation (WRABF) Rulebook available for viewing at: www.wrabf.com. All Rifle Classes will be shot simultaneously. Only LV and HV Class B will be contested at the World Championships.
4.Qualifying will be for both regular and junior (16 and under) shooters.
5.Qualifying will be done at a range/club that has been registered with the committee and as part of regular matches or as separate qualifying matches, according the ranges/clubs schedule. Match directors should provide as much advance notice as possible of those dates and start times and forward that information along to the committee so that it can be posted on the www.usairriflebenchrest.com website.
6.Qualifying is to be done by shooting at a distance of 25 Meters = 27.34 Yards = 82.02 Feet when at all possible. For those Clubs unable to provide a distance of more than 25 Yards, an exception can be made and will need to be duly noted when the range/club is registered and when submitting scores for consideration to the committee.
7.Those hoping to qualify will do so by making certain that their equipment, including rifles and rests, are in full compliance with the WRABF Rulebook for the Class being contested as shown at: www.wrabf.com.
8.Scoring is to be done for all calibers by using an approved .22 caliber gauge/plug and by a Scorer who will not be attending the World Championships. If it so happens that all shooters present are trying to qualify, then Scorer cannot score his/her own targets, but instead must allow an alternate Scorer to score his/her targets.
9.Scores will need to be transmitted to the committee by the match director for compilation, the results of which will be posted each month on the www.usairriflebenchrest.com website for review.
10. There is a WRABF imposed limit of 15 total shooters per Rifle Class, per Country allowed for each of the two Classes being contested at the World Championships. After the qualifying period has ended, the top 25% of all scores submitted in each of the four Rifle Classes will have qualified for Team USA. A shooter may only qualify in one Rifle Class, but multiple attempts in a single Class OR in multiple Classes will be allowed. If a shooter submits qualifying scores in more than one Rifle Class, he/she will have to choose which Rifle Class he/she is planning on competing in at the World Championships and submit that decision to the committee. After the qualification period has ended, invitations will be sent out to those who have qualified starting with the best scores from each of the Rifle Classes and working down the list going from best to worst in order to determine who will be able to travel to the World Championships, plus any team pairings that may have to be accommodated along with their alternates, so long as any or all have met the qualification standards listed here and on the referenced websites.
