Target face where are shots legal

Can someone direct me to where it says in the rules if there is an out of bounds area on the target face? 100-200 benchrest.
Worried about a windy day. :)

For group shooting, it is the box itself around the upper target, any shot outside the box is a MISS, if you cut the line I would think you are still in the measuring area. (Actually it is an imaginary line between the the actual target and the sighters, last I remember, but that may have changed LOL)

Via IBS rules...

See G)Disqualification of Target and Competitors:
2) Any shot (other than the first sighting shot) above the centerline between the record and sighter targets, but outside the border (and not touching) the borderline of the record target does not constitute grounds for disqualification. The bullet hole in question will be inspected using the Sweany reticule device to determine whether the periphery touches the target border or not. This shot or shots will be measured and a penalty of 2 minutes of angle for each shot will be added to the resultant group size.

also see...
F)Group Measurements
1) Groups are to be measured by any method approved by the IBS in one thousands of an inch. The Sweany reticule rule or its equivalent will be the only official measuring device used at all registered matches. In measuring groups fired with calibers for the caliber to be measured, the measurement shall be made from the extreme outside edges of the two widest bullet holes and the actual differential of the larger calibers shall be subtracted from the measurement read on the Sweany Measuring Scale.

For score shooting, again it is the box around each target, any outside is a MISS, if you cut the line of th ebox, you are in but it will be scored a ZERO.

Section C of the NBRSA rules say any shot on the target paper above the sighter top most border line are considered record shots and will be counted and/or penalized;

(c) Required No. of Shots. Any target having less than the
required number of shots, or having any shot (other than the
first sighting shot) outside of (and not touching) the border line
on the record target, will be penalized 1 minute of angle for
each shot missing or for each shot outside the border line.
(See: Target Drawing in back of Rulebook.) A shot above the
top line of the sighter target will be a record shot unless it is the
first shot. However, the competitor must report it to the
Rangemaster before firing continues.

In IBS Score, any shot not touching the 10 ring might as well be in your foot !!!
in todays real world you can't drop but a couple or 4 X's and still be in the wood @ 100 yards and @ 200 yards 99% of the time it takes a 250 to win,,,,,, hell I shot 250-20x's in Elberton Ga last year @ the Ga State Match and was 10th @ 100 yards, in Piedmont NC last year Johnny Loric shot 250-25x's and was still second! talk about tough shooters,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

the wind is my friend,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I was just about to post the same thing. You beat me to it.

If you're worried about shots outside or touching the line you have far more important things to be worried about. Such as - will I beat the traffic if I leave right now?
