Superfeet design

It is amazing how complicated some can make a very simple problem. Just go to Ace Hardware or wherever they have a good selection of nuts and bolts. Get 3 fender washers about 1.5 inch diameter. Get 3 neoprene washers same size. They are about 1/16 inch thick. Then get 3 smaller washers that just cover the hole in the fender washer. Epoxy the small washer in the center of the fender washer. Use contact glue to glue the neoprene washer to the bottom of the fender washer. Finished. Cost, less than $3, probably less than $2. The smaller fender washer about 1.5 inch diamerter has a higher unit area loading and the neoprene does not want to slip on the bench. No lathe work, no fancy high priced pieces from some speciality maker. Just simple cad plated washers. Course some people won't be satisfied unless they pay about $25-$50 for a set of feet. I really hate to see people hammer their rest feet into nice concrete tops. In my opinion it is just plain rude, when there are other solutions. JMO.

I have a set of Daves superfeet, They work well, but I'm always looking for a better
mousetrap. Since my thumb and forefinger don't fit under the corners of my railgun base,
I cut 3 disks out of 10 guage stainless, but made them with a small leg. This is nothing
more than a 3/8 wide by 7/8 long protrusion from the disc. This is bent upward at
30 degrees and is used as a handle. Just a handle to hold while placing it under the points.
With this I can place the disc under the point and set the base and disc down as a unit
in perfect alignment. That relates to 1st shot isn't lost while point is searching for the
center of the hole. MSC sells Buna N Rubber and thats what I bought in 70 durometer
Dave suggested that. I did purchase it with self adhesive, but that doesn't hold well so
I cleaned the adhesive off with acetone and used crazy glue gell. This has become
a foolproof setup and I would not change them

Bob,
I had not thought of putting disks on points and then setting them down together. I think that, particularly if the feet have high traction, that that is a really good idea.
