What a day....

I went up to Pekin, Indiana, a few minutes ago, to the grocery store...

Speed limit 40 MPH.....I was doing 40 mph, or slightly less..

All of a sudden, I saw the lights flashing in my rear view mirror....I pulled over.

The officer came up to my truck, then asked if I knew how fast I was going?

I said I was doing 40 mph......

He said, yes you were, but, this section of our town is near a church, so, you should have known that 40 MPH was unsafe, and, you should have been going no more than 25 to 30 MPH!

But I said, the speed limit is 40....and I was doing 40..

He said, it don't make no difference what the speed limit says, I say you didn't follow the intent of the law....

But I says, the speed limit is 40 MPH, and I was doing 40mph!

He then handed me a speeding ticket....

I've been know to disagree with you on occation but you sure got that one right 8>)

you'll win that one

sounds like someone had to get their ticket count up.
how fast does the ticket say you were going?

Wow and Obama has not even won the electoral college must less been sworn in yet. Best we get used to it. bob finger

Bill:

I think I would go to court on that one and plead "Not Guilty" and let the Judge decide.. You were a target of an over zealous officer..

Dave

Met up with the road-side tax collector did ya? You will win. Why wait for court, try calling the DA's office. My son got a ticket for failure to signal a turn. We saw the DA and he dismissed it after about 15 seconds of discussion. He thought it was kinda bogus too. He's betting that you'll just pay the fine rather then deal with the hassles.

I've never heard of a "chuch zone"? Nevertheless, they should have some kind of signs posted somewhere warning of the lower speed limit, and exactly what that speed limit is.

Are you guys goofing or do you really not get the joke?

Just wanted you to know that a post I made yesterday got deleted. Some fellow wanted advice on something and you gave good advice in return.
I then made a post that Matzeder doesn't even follow his own advice.
I guess the deleter didn't get it?
Dale

He probably doesn't read all the forums on the net like we do.

Pay the ticket Bill and be done with it. You may beat city hall but the odds are against you and favor the court. garrisone.

Bill...had me going for a minute.....good one. The word "Intent" is a powerful and vague word by all means, especially in Politics/law and in Millitary orders. Lets you give an order while being able to step back later and say "That's not what I meant exactly".

Friend Bill, with all due respect to the greatest gunsmith the world has ever seen, this was pretty well a dead subject until your post. This subject has been beaten to death are you sure you want to continue it? The season is over, the problem will be dealt with.
