Small Rifle Wolf magnum primers

any of your benchrest shooters using them?

Do they have the thin cup such as the Fed 205 or the Thick cup such as the Rem 7 1/2 or CCI-BR-4?

Thanks in advance

Used the Wolf (Russian) regular small rifle primers and they were quite satisfactory in hot 6 ppc loads. Very consistent. The Ruskies certainly have their small arms powder and primer chemistry down pat.

They probably have spent more time and effort on small arms R&D than the U.S. Our troops are still armed with a rifle that is over 40 years old, and not because it is the best there is, or can't be improved on. DOD and congress would rather spend our tax$$ on big ticket items like subs and fighter planes etc.

The Wolf SRP are soft like Fed205s, the Wolf SRMP are more like CCI BR4s.

I have switched to both Wolf LR primers in my 308 and Wolf Small Rifle primers in 223. I am using Wolf Small Rifle Magnum primers in my 6mmBRX. My ES is as good as with CCI or Federals and no pierced primers.

Keith,

Like Rustystud I use the small magnums in my BRX as well as my 6X47 Lapua. As soon as my order comes in I will be using the large Mag's in my .308 and 6.5X284. The magnums have a thicker cup than the standards and really breathe new life into tired primer pockets.

I personally have not used them in my rifles (too damn paranoid to switch from Federals), but 2 of my shooting companions have used them and their rifles show no signs of letting up after switching from F205Ms to WFSRM. The performance of their rifles has almost convinced me to switch, but... old habits die hard. lol. Hope this helps!!!!

I have been using them in .45 ACP. All good. Going to try 6PPC next. SR MP.
The funny thing. I have used a couple thousand. Every primer is cup up. And every cup is full of primer compound. CCI BR And Federal Match, at my bench, the compound if lacking and missing.
On other boards. People like them. I guess, it's the Walmart effect.....

Yep I shoot em and have sold litellary a metric ton of them to others. When they first came out we were giving packs of 100 out to the guys in the SE Region, at that time it was really mixed emotions on them, like Keller said old habits are hard to break.
Now it seems quite a few are jumping on the wagon, they are very consistant and they are affordable as opposed to some of the alternatives.
Jump over to F Class and see if Bob Bock has any comments on them, Pretty sure he set a record last year and if I am not mistaken he was using the Standard Large Rifle primers.

Chris

Still diggin for some wood :D

I shoot them in score and long range shoots with no plans to switch back.

for the record, they make a small rifle, a small rifle magnum, and a small rifle 223.

the 223 primer is built specifically for the semi auto platforms.

the bottom line more options.

whats really good....they all cost the same...no bump for extra words on the box.

remember how nice the pmc primers of the past were ?.......they were wolf primers in pmc packaging...

Hey Chris, you over your bug? Good. The guys need help.

Those Wolf SR primers I tried were about 0.0005" larger in diameter and 0.005" shorter. They seated with more pressure and deeper. As to the performance, I couldn't tell the diff from 205GM's on the chrono or on paper. They might be a good alternative for brass where the primer pockets are swelling.

Havent looked for the Wolf SRP yet, but where are they available and the best price.

I was in Wideners warehouse a few days ago. They have several skids of Wolf at $18.50/K or $87/5000. They are now just showing 753K of SRP and 1451K of SRP mag so they are going fast.
