shotgun bluing

A friend of mine has an old Browning shotgun that has a small area at end of barrel that has light rust. He wants to have it reblued to look as original. Live in Virginia, Manassas/Fredericksburg area. Need suggestions on who/where to have the blueing done.

How old is the "old Browning shotgun" and is it a single or a double?

Double?

If it's a double DO NOT hot blue it. If someone tells you it's ok to hot blue a side by side or over under don't listen to them. If they push the issue run away fast.

If he wants it to look it did from the factory, I know of no one except Browing and maybe the guys mentioned in the previous post that know exactly how Browing did their blueing. I suggest sending it back to the factory to be refinished. I have seen some that were hotdipped that look terrible when compared side by side with an original factory gun.
