You guys missed a great time. Weather was bad, but we had a big crowd. We didn't have as many sellers though because of the weather I guess. Jay Lynn Gore made enough to pay for the whole year of shooting. How much did he make Randy $15? Jay Lynn can live on what Ed Watson threw away according to Mickey Coleman. Ask Jay Lynn if he didn't weld several lawn mower blades together last week so he didn't have to buy one.
Shilen introduced their new rifle. It is a real great concept. An exact Remington footprint, Savage barrel setup, Savage boltnose, and an excellent Remington type Shilen trigger. It will come as a complete rifle with either a McMillan stock or A very nice custom walnut stock. I believe they will offer barreled receivers and receivers for the do it yourselfers. Change barrels easily and or bolt noses and you can have the ultimate switch barrel for a lot less money than several rifles.

Thanks for posting that. I've been waiting for that information! Any idea of cost, and performance?

I was there, (Ed Bernabeo, Geramo Villareal, and I drove up from Houston), had a good time just seeing some friends that I have not seen all Winter. I also met some friends that I have only previously known from these Forums.

Wade said the actions would be around $1100, the quality looks top notch. They will be offered in a solid bottom "Benchrest Style", (the DGV, for Darned Good Varminter), a repeater, (DGR, for Darned Good Repeater), in long or short action, left or right hand, and in bolt faces 223, 6PPC, .473, and .523 magnum.

Despite the terrible weather, it was a good day.........jackie
 
jackie -- would these actions need to be trued, or are they already benchrest typical quality?

I'm not going to be a real competitor [at least until I get finished with my two current careers!] , but that level of cost is within my grasp for my NEXT rifle. I already have a (small shank: Savages come in two size shanks) Shilen match quality stainless 6PPC barrel. It has provided my introduction to the world of neck turned reloading.
 
I sure did want to attend. The one and only one I attended about 2 years ago I won 1/2 off on a new barrel. Had lots of fun. Bought some stuff from Ratigan and Jay Lynn, and sat next to Jackie when he took a Leu 36 apart. Had indegestion the rest of the day from the chili. It is a fun get together. Sure hated to miss it this year but the weather is really bad in south Ok. right now. Was really looking forward to the first sanctioned score match at Denton as I have just put together my first 30BR. But my old bones don't much like cold damp weather anymore. So will have to wait till next month. Now have to get my act together for the Luther Mixmaster LV match on April 10th. I sure hope a bunch of our Denton brothern can make to Luther for that match. You just have not shot real "CONDITIONS" until you shoot Luther. If anyone needs directions just Pm or email me or Cale or Rex.

Since these actions are to be machined using the latest in CNC techknowlogy, there shouls be no need to do anything but put it together and shoot it.

Of course, there are always shooters who do little "tweeks" to any piece of equipment to "get it just right". Sometimes these "teeks" result in fixing problems that do not exist........jackie
