Today was the final match of the season at the Rock, we had a little frost on the punkin early but it warmed up nicely but the wind and mirage was a little tricky. We had a light turnout with 10 shooters, 8 VFS and 2 Modified. They missed out on a good match and some good food, George Neal started us off with ham biscuits to go with the coffee and doughnuts and Phillip had a crock pot full of hotdogs cooking in the chilli that made up a fine hotdog. The wind and mirage got to everyone at least a couple of times so no one stayed clean. In VFS Ronnie Davis won w 248-7x, Butch Mays was 2nd w 248-5x and Dale Avery was 3rd w 248-5x also. In Modified George Neal won with a fine 245-3x score and Doug Knowles was 2nd with 241-6x. The championships for the year came down to the wire in VFS with Butch Mayes winning w 1495-76x, Ronnie Davis was 2nd w 1493-91x and 3rd was Roy Darnell w 1492-93x, Steve Stanley was 4th w 1491-75x and Dale Avery was 5th w 1489-68x. In Modified only James Davis completed the 6 matches reguired ( 3-100 & 3-200) for the championship, he had a very good score of 1466-35x for the win. No one completed the 6 matches in Factory, Phillip Curtis was high for the year w 1204-32x, Zack Darnell was 2nd w 962-28x. Cuz'n Roy had a hard day, shooting next to me all year finally got to him( some stupid rubbed off) and he had a couple miscues. Ken was back today for the first time in awhile( he had been suffering form a pinched nerve in his neck) it was good to have him back. He had a brain fart on one match and cranked the scope the wrong way and got out of the sighter with a shot, I ask if it was his 1st shot and he said no so I told him we tried to cut some slack for doing stupid stuff but if he insisted on being stupid he would have to pay the price, The price was a 5. Sorry Ken, I couldn't resist . We had a great time all year shooting and ragging on each other for doing dumb stuff. We have a great bunch of people at this range, If you don't have a good time with this bunch you need to look in the mirror for the problem. Thanks to Phillip, Phil, Eric, Roy and all of the guys that make this match happen, it is truly a pleasure to shoot with ya'll and I hope we can do it again next year. Steve
