Scope or eye problem?

Hi!

I am facing this problem lately with my Leupold 36X: the target seems to wander to and fro (not sideways apparently) and gets out of focus for a few seconds. Although the crosshair is very sharp, aiming properly is impossible, and shooting for group in these circumstances is obviously useless.

Has anyone encountered the same problem?
Has anyone an idea as to what is the reason and the remedy?

All input is welcome.
Many thanks in advance.

Best regards.

agree on the mirage

If you aren't using some type of heat shield over your barrel, this is pretty common to see from the barrel heat, doesn't take many rounds to see this on high power scopes.

I see this all the time and it drives me nuts. It is likely mirage or barrel heat as described above. I saw a nice device a year ago that did a nice job with eliminating this. It was a small battery operated desktop fan. Just place it along side of your action blowing down and across the barrel and it cleared the problem right up.
