One says 48HRC someone else says 38-42HRC. Both can be right, but for HRC of the receiver I would be more inclined to go with the 38-42HRC. as more toughness is available at that range.
Don't you all rush in to give me a correct answer.

Shoot well

Depending on the grade of alloy steel used, I would think 48RC would be getting a little on the hard side. With most Chrome Moly steels, above 44, and ductility starts to fall off pretty quick.
The 38-42 sounds more reasonable.........jackie

According to factory prints, the bolt heads are made from 41L40 and have a heat treat range of 35-42 Rc. Bolt bodies are made from 1020 tube are are carbo-nitrided, R15N 89 min,.012-.015 case depth.

Fred, thanks for the info. Just in case you missed my last post on this, the reason I am replying here is to mention that I had acknowledged your info as correct and that I had saved to file incorrect info, twice, likely from the same origin. My source would surprise you and thus I am certain it was a typo originally, it happens. I thought is was suspicious but wasn't paying attention to it when I posted. Anyhow, thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Rob
