I have walked off the mound to get my glasses more than once. Crappy rain or not, my eyes are behind glass. Still lucky enough to have no need for corrective lens and hate wearing protection but I insist on keeping them working. I have felt debris of some type from pierced primers on my face before. Shooting action pistol, I'm pretty sure I have been hit on every single trip to the range.
Speaking of lawnmowers, glasses on for that as well. Crossing the driveway at the road I get nailed by small stones, they bounce off the front tires.
