First of all thanks to all the shooters who attended the match and helped with the setup and take down. We were able to avoid the rains that were predicted, but unfortunately we had to deal with the moderate, switching winds that the Ione range is noted for. The wind drove me crazy, but a few of our shooters seemed to deal with it very well.

Hat's off to Russ H for the high score of the day shooting his Light Varmint EV2 with an excellent 717-19x score. Heartbreak of the day goes to Matt L in the Sporter Class which he lost by 8 points after failing to shoot one target on his 3rd card and dropping 10 points. Everyone is really improving as the matches are getting much more competitive and difference between top and bottom of each class is shrinking quickly.

The shootout of the day was between Zach J and his son Tristan shooting a Gammo 440 Springer. Zach threw down the gauntlet and Tristan in his first match picked it up. The kid kicked butt, great shooting Tristan.

We had a great group of Air Gun shooters who just came out to practice and have some fun with their air rifles. After the matches a group of us had some friendly competition shooting targets at 100 yards and bottle caps and pistol brass cases at 75 yards. It was amazing how well the .177 20fpe rifles shot at 100 yards. Once you figured out your hold over and the wind you could consistently hit within a 3 inch circle at 100 yds. The dead eye of the shoot off had to be Kyron L and his .25 Marauder he picked off more bottle caps and shells at 75 yards than anyone.

Thanks again to everyone who attended,
Jim in Sacramento

Thanks for the report Jim. Tell Matt not to feel bad, most of us forget a target at least once. I missed an entire row at Holbrook once.

Hi Dan,

That must have been your first match, as I can't remember the last time you shot less than 240 on a card :D

Matt had a great day considering he had just arrived a day earlier from a trip to the middle east.
