Folks:

I have a .30 cal Blackhawk built in 1969 that is in mint condition but shoots four inches high at 25 yards. The rear sight is set all of the way down so the question is what can be done to the front sight. This looks to be silver soldered on from the factory, is there a slip on hood that can be pinned to raise the front sight? What are the options here ?

Thanks much: John

Wow

So you are the other person who bought one of those.:D

Any competent Gunsmith can make a taller front sight and re-attach it. That is about your only option. An experience TIG Welder could build it up, and then you could dress it down. But, if it is Sil-Brazed on, it might loose the attachment.

Ever shot that thing at night with the old 30 Carbine Military Surplus ammo. You can't see for five minutes because of the ball of fire..........jackie

Thanks Jackie

I appreciate the reply.I do a fair amount of smith work and re-finishing at home but am not adept with a tig welder. I have been following this board for the last 4 years and am one of the sleepers that does a lot of reading but not much posting. I've learned a lot from you guy's over the years and I do shoot a 6 BR at the club, but have never gone to the formal Bench shoots. As far as night fire I haven't done that for some time now, they kind of frown on it where I live.

Thanks again: John

Give Jack Hutington a call. He has literaly worked on thousands of Blackhawks. He can build you a new sight and make it look like it came on it and do anything else you could ever imagine wanting to have done to it.
