Rimfire Scopes Help

I recently bought a rimfire scope from Bass Pro Shops. It is 3-9x Redhead Ascent brand name, which I think is a Bass Pro Shop product. The image is blurry in the center while sharp at the edges. Obviously I will be returning it. My question is: Is this a faulty scope, or are all Redhead Ascent rimfire scopes like the one that I got?

Can anyone recommend a good-for-the-money variable rimfire scope with AO?

I would expect you have a bad scope but I don't know.
Every recommendation I would have is going to be more money.
On my hunting rifles I have Bushnell Elite 3200 series or Nikon Buckmasters.
I have a 17Mach2 CZ which has become my squirrel getter and it has a Simmons 44 mag series scope on it and it is decent and seems to hold point of aim just fine.

When it comes to scopes for the most part you do get what you pay for but I do believe you can find some resonable values with good results without breaking the bank, which I have done on my hunting rifles.

Thanks, Charlie. The Cabelas price for the Simmons .22 Mag scope is actually less than the bad Bass Pro scope that I have. About the same with shipping.

Don't know about the 22 mag the 44 mag is what I had purchased, don't know what the difference is.
You might try opticsplanet.com who I think is a supporter of this site, they usually have pretty good prices.

Plan on spending as much for a scope for a rifle as you spend for the rifle. But a Leupold; lifetime warranty and a great product, MADE IN AMERICA.

+2 for Leupold. Excellent customer service, lifetime warranty, And supporting our economy.

What do you plan to do with a new scope? Is it for Traget work, or do you just want something to hunt with?

Check out the Weaver 3-9x38 rimfire scope. You can get it with fine crosshairs or dot reticle. It has an adjustable objective and is nice and clear. They can be had for about $220.00. Leupold is also very nice, own several and like all of them, but that little Weaver is perfect for a sporter type rimfire rifle and the AO is real nice to dial it in while punching paper at 50 yards or less.

I've found the Weavers to be the practical equivalent of Leupolds but at a lower cost. Many posters over on Rimfire Central are fans of Mueller scopes.

I have a Mueller scope on my Savage bolt action 22 and it does very well. Just as good as my weavers....Slim
