rimfire rifle ????

What sort of competition are you looking to do Steve? They may help in getting some ideas on what may work for you.
I think the best thing though is to attend some matches1st & talk with those there & see what they're using.
There are some decent factory rifles out there that with some mods can shoot really well.
Another route would be to find a used custom gun. There are several sources for these.
And then a new custom, which may or may not be any better than any of the above.
If you could shoot the rifle before buying that would be ideal. Or at least find some info about it somehow.
Prices will vary from $600+ to $3500 or more depending on what your looking to do with it.
Again, attend some matches 1st. That will help in your process.

How serious are you?

am looking to buy 22 rimfire for competition, need to know what to buy andddd what not to buy.
thanks

As a general rule, Buy the best you can afford or Buy the best and cry once. Neil Ewing has some rifles for sale I think. He's over on the west coast some place. Doug Bell may be able to help you out finding him.

Also, it depends on what competition you are interested in; Benchrest, silhouette, etc., etc.

You could do worse than to buy an Anschutz

You could start of by looking at an Anschutz.

The model that you select will depend on the style of shooting that you compete in (benchrest, 3P, silhouette etc.)

They are good enough for olympic shooting and you can do quite well with a factory model. When bedded and tweaked they do even better. Then you have to find it's preferred diet of ammunition and a decent set of optics.

Others may disagree - it all depends on your budget and what you are trying to achieve. More info needed!
