im wondering if there is any rules or regulations reguarding rest size? i ask because im a machinist/metal fabricator and i made a very nice front rest for myself but i used a 4" center and 8" legs witch makes it pretty wide. also does anyone know where theres plans for making your own rest? ive made 4 now because everytime i make one i think of something i could have done better

is there?

a minimum spacing between rear bag and rest or is it just no touchy between the pair

Front and rear can not be one unit. Additionaly the rear bag cannot be housed within a base or anything like that, only a rear bag stabilizer may be used (donut).

A rest definitely can be too big

Some benches are very narrow, Bill Gebhardt when he started manufacturing the Bald Eagle Rest 20 or so years ago actually put a 4th foot in the outboard leg because some rests hung over the edge of the bench.

Rest

A noted Gulf Coast Region Shooter used to have a old Hart that was modified by building a dam around all of the legs, and pouring the space full with lead. That thing probably weighed 60 pounds.

He used it because his shooting style featured him pinning the Rifle hard agains the stop.

I think he quit using it because he got too old to pick it up........jackie
