Resizing mystery (to me, anyway)

Friend had a HK SR9T. He never finished zeroing the scope when we noticed the fluted brass. Went right back to the LGS. Bummer that was a nice rig.

Intentionally Fluted Chamber????? Wow!

Never thought that anyone would do that on purpose. Sure does kill the reloading option. I think the ridges impart longitudinal strength to the case, which makes it act like the brass is harder. It looks and acts just like reamer chatter marks. 14 of 250 cases had this. Another 4 had other problems. I tossed all those. From now on, I'm buying new brass only.

vtmarmot .......

The fluted H&K chamber is designed to ensure 100% reliable extraction - no matter what. They have no interest in handloading for their military rifles. Those rifles really mutilate the brass. It's best to just toss those cases. Getting new brass is always the best option.
