i am thinking about selling my Leupold scope/Buky's mount (hint hint) :) .......... but was wondering what to expect with the removal from the action if i do. the instructions said to use JB Weld. what I'm wanting to know is it going to be hard to get it off? will there be jb weld left on the top of the action and bottom of the scope mount? if so what is the best way to remove the dried up jb weld from the action

thanks in advance

J-B release

just warm up mount with hair dryer or cloths iron. And give it a tap with a delrin punch.

Pretty easy, I'd use a low priced butane soldering iron without the tip. Low flame about 1" or less, just move it around and when epoxy softens use a piece of hardwood with a chisel edge and scrape it off, non marring.

Thanks Tim I'm just always scared I'm going to mess something up

I would heat it up a bit and try to knock it off....but I don't care what it looks like later. You, on the other hand, care immensely what it looks like so be careful in both the heat you apply and how you knock if off.

Just sayin'!!

Use the clothes iron

I would never put flames anywhere near one of my rifles. I have removed a couple of actions from glue ins using a clothes Iron successfully. just sit the iron plugged in and on high on the bases and leave it for a bit. Keep checking for the glue to let go. Should be pretty easy.
