Rem 700 Long Action Rebarrel Options

What are my options with a 700 long action besides 30-06, 7mag, 300wm....I ws thinking 7mmRUM or possilby a short mag. What area my available options outside of teh wildcat arena?

Why bother with the fat mags when the "old" line of cartridges work so well. :)

It is dependent on what bolt face you have ...

The single biggest hurdle to overcome when chambering any action for a case design it was nor designed for is reliable feeding. The cartridges you favor have more diameter on the case bodies, and some modifications will probably have to be performed in the ramps in order to make the earlier action feed the fatter ones efficiently.
Of course, you will have to do something with the bolt face if the action was not originolly chambered for a magnum case with a .532 rim diameter. .........jackie
 
Pick a bullet. Decide how fast to want to shoot it. Then use the smallest case out there. I build 'em but not a big fan of the Ultra Mags. The larger the diameter of the case the worse they feed.
