Hello, my name is Bob and i'm a first year gunsmithing student at Trinidad State Junior College. During my second year of school, i will be building a rifle on a 700 action, and im wondering if anybody could direct me to where i could find rem 700 actions for sale...any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bob, I think you might try Gunbroker, Guns America, or GunsInternational for web sites.

You could try Bob Whites Shooters Corner, or Bruno Shooter Supply.

Many times, what you have to settle for is a barreled action, But you can often buy those for the same cost as a action.

I guess the days are gone when you could go to WallMart and buy one of those cheap "Tupper Ware Stocked" 700's for $325.

Say hi to Speedy for me.............jackie

If you go to the go go varmint go website there is a guy there Larry Scott who has them by the bucket full.He is also on the www.6mmbr.com websites classifieds and often on this websites classifieds.

honestly, for school i would search the used gun racks for the cheapest most beat up looking 700 you can find.

Trade Talk or Bargaineer

I would comb the weekly magazines that come out selling everything from vehicles to ponies. Scour the local paper classifieds, as well. With the economy being in the dumps you'll probably see many good deals.

The trouble with anything that goes "bang" now is that "Obama Mania" has driven the price of everything up.

Been to a Gun Show lately. People are insane.:D.......jackie

Hey there check your PM. Also many of the pawn shops sell guns on the web sites listed above previous post. They ship guns all over the nation depending on the local market.:( prices usually are based on how long the rifle has been on the shelf at the pawn shops.)

f21sh,
The most expensive rifles around here are in the pawn shops. I haven't found any bargains in a pawn shop in many years.

Most guys up here..(Canada) buy as new rifle as cheap as they can get it and pull off what they don't want... I just bought a used .308BDL in nice condition for $400 (Canadian $)... Hard to find them any cheaper... It still is the nicest mass produced actions to build super accurate hunting, varmint and target rifles...

I got a Rem L/A from Walmart for 425.00. Sold the Mossy Oak stock for 75.00, then sold the 30/06 barrel off of it for 100.00. Makes the action for 250.00.
I wish I could make out like that on a stainless action.
