I ordered one of these after poor results from a used win 70 300 wsm.
The day it got here was also the day i got my lymann bore cam.
Guess what, brand new rifle off set throat, so chamber probably was screwed.
Rem agrees to look at the problem.
Multiple conversations, email last week which seemed to imply it was on its way to my ffl.
This week they have no clue where it is.
That is 8 weeks into there "4-6 week" turn around for repairs.
How long do you guys take to REPLACE a bbl ??

Today i received a small package.
As an apology for the slow service, management had offered to
send me a couple of boxes of ammo for the rifle.
The ammo showed up today,
I still have no clue where the rifle is!

I know of a few 700's with the same problem.

I am REALLY surprised Remington agreed to replace the barrel.

The usual reply is that it shoots within spec.

Don't be surprised with what the "new" barrel looks like.

I think the fact that i had pictures of the offset throat may have helped.
I will inspect when and if i ever see it again.
If it is still questionable, i will sell it and never shoot it.
At one point they said it may have to get a new receiver...but no real word
on what has or has not been done. T he first 4 weeks it was at a "repair"
facility in tulsa, but they do not replace bbls. so it was sent to the factory.

Here's a funny one:

I traded a Model 7 SS in .223 to a friend. I really had it shooting great. Trigger done etc. Gave him the load data and brass.

I did not full length size the brass for this rifle, but for some reason he did FL resize and thought it had excess headspace, so he returned it to Remington.

The first thing Remington did was chop it into pieces and sent him a new one:-(

I was told they would ask the shop foreman for an update,
that was 2 days ago. no info.
I truly do not understand.

Please keep us informed.

IMO your rifle is in a huge pile with all the others.

The days of Mike Walker are long long, long gone..............................................

At this point i will probably sell it without ever firing it.
Take the loss and move on.
I can recover some loss selling the scope in an unopened package,
as i did get a deal on it.

He died in 3/6/13 at 101 years

ups tracking says it was shipped today and my ffl should have it on monday.
i'll be back on wednesday, hopefully can report then.

The joke continues...

i had to do a background check to pick up(eventually) my rifle!!
WTF!
I guess they lied everytime i called them.
they did replace the bbl, AND THE BOLT, THE STOCK AND THE RECEIVER.
A NEW RIFLE, but NOT in a new factory box.
pure bs.
it is for sale, new unfired $850 plus shipping.
new from bud's is 967/996, msrp is $1180

I take it that you initially wrote this under the assumption that any of them had throats in line with the chamber.

Anybody that has ever, (attempted), to chuck up a Factory barrel to perform any type of work can attest to how crooked they are.

Some folk believe the Remington Custom Shop chambers and installs barrels and their upper management shoot on the weekends.

As i said, i had not bought a new rifle in over 20 years.
With all the improvements in quality, i THOUGHT there was a CHANCE of a
HUNTING quality chamber/bbl.
I was wrong. I have not looked at the new rifle and as of now will not shoot it, just sell it as new.
What burns me is they did not ship it in a remington factory box, but a plain brown shipping sleeve.

They apparently lied every time they picked up the phone.

With my eye issues i may not be able to shoot high powered rifles with high powered scopes.

Gentlemen and ladies.
I did bore scope the chamber and throat
and it did look acceptable, but i sold the
rifle without ever firing it.
As they say , educations cost money,
how much do you want to learn ?
I sold it to a hunting buddy of mine.
His first group was a .6 at 100yds,
he came back a couple days later
to "proof" the load, and shot a
.4 something. he is happy with the
rifle. I'll stick with my builds.
