Bought one and have only put a couple of rds thru it. I noticed this morning while fooling with it that the bolt handle hits the action when cocking it in the bolt slot. This happens about 2/3 of the way cocked and it's on the rear side of the slot. None of the other Rems I have are like this. Do you think a little file-work on the action is ok or not?

What you describe sounds like the normal operation of the extraction cam surfaces.

Before you get out the files have someone else look at the rifle.

"Normal Operation of the Extraction Cam Sufaces"??? Ya lost me here. The "bolt handle" is hitting the back side of the bolt handle slot cut in the action and this is an "Extraction Surface"? I have a bunch of Rem actions and not one of them has the bolt handle hitting the rear of the bolt slot cut in the action.

Sorry Tom, I guess I didn't pay enough attention. If I were you, I would have a gunsmith look at it. Sounds like it does have a problem.

If this is a new rifle it should go back to the dealer and sent back to Remington. Sounds to me like the bolt handle is soldered in the wrong spot on the bolt; not unusual on Remingtons, from my experience.

I'm sorry that you are a little sensitive. I read it the same way Gene did. Follow Pete's advice. You will not find a kinder or more knowledgeable man that Gene. He is always available to help anybody. You will find the vast majority of the guys on this forum will help you.
