Regulators ?

Being very new with Air Guns and not knowing where to look for the answer, I am wondering what the function of a regulator is?

Thanks,

Pete

Pete,
A regulated rifle discharges a measured amount of air. Where an Un-regulated rifle discharges the average of the remaining air in the cylinder. The reg. is mounted between the full chamber of air and instead of air moving directly through the transfer port behind the pellet there is a valve that fills a small chamber, that releases a precise amount of air. There is a balance of pressure that re-fills the chamber after each shot. When the pressure in the main cylinder gets to a low point the valve stays open and the rifle is said to be off reg. and then begins to discharge the average in the main cylinder. My Air Arms NJR gets abount 35 shots then goes off reg. Simply the regulated rifle gives more accurate shots normally than one without a regulator. The much larger cylinder in the USFT and LD's magic delivers many shots with a small deviation in velocity as compared to the Maruader which probably get 35 accurate shots with an extreme spread of 30 to 40 fps, but not as precise as the regulated rifle that has an extreme spread of 6 to 10 fps. Yours and my EV2 have one of the best of the factory regulators.

That is my understanding.

Bob
