First my apologies for dropping in with another "what is it worth post". But I am trying to help a friend and this looks to be the best place to seek that help.
Just returned from a long quick 4 day road trip to Oregon and back. Buried a favorite cousin and visited some old friends. Weather in Oregon and Idaho sucked.
While out there I had dinner with an elderly former colleague and he asked me if I was interested in his old 22-250. I said yes but asked what kind of condition it was in. He told me that I was the last person to shoot it. Choke! That had to be earlier than 1983.
He is on social secuirty now and cares for his ill wife and doesn't get around all that well himself. His shooting days are over.
The rifle is an early issue, 1969 if I remember right, Remington 700 BDL Varminter Special. It also has a Redfield 36 x Benchrest scope. Don't ask why, I don't know.
This fellow is pretty savy and isn't going to shoot me a low ball ol' friend price. He doesn't know what it is worth but you are not going to fool him either. I need to come up with a realistic price for the set up.
Plenty of those old Remington's show up on Gunbroker but I can't find one of those scopes listed. 20x yes, but not 36x.
Anybody have an idea of a value range for a pre1980's the Redfield 36x Benchrest scope?
