Recoil Reduction:

I was watching a show on the Outdoor Chanel yesterday on Turkey Hunting. Featured in the show was one of the new recoil reducing stocks on the shotgun they were using. There was a segment in which the "Star" was shooting from a bench using various number shot loads to demonstrate the effectiveness of them. The gun jumped into the air but did not seem to recoil much at all considering what he was throwing down range.

Now, the stock isn't pretty but the spring system inside it seems to work darn well. I suspect this kind of setup would tame the recoil of a 10.5 lb rifle quite nicely.

Well it may be just me but when I put a slip on pad on my rifle group size more than doubles. I no longer use a pad, I just place a folded wash cloth on my shoulder under my T-shirt if its warm weather or wear a jacket with a fairly thick liner in cold weather.

I saw an over/under trap gun a few years ago that had a similar device in the butt. Don't know how it worked, mechanically, but it had a stroke of about 1/2-3/4 inch. My 14 year old grandson shot it, he weighted about 90 lbs at the time and he said it didn't kick much at all, about like his 20 ga. single shot.

have recoil pads on them. None of mine have ever lost any accuracy as a result.
