Rear Port Action Wrench

I have a TC Icon ...have not seen a commercial action wrench for sale ...can a rear port wrench be made for this action...is it a matter of machining a tool based on the bolt diameter and lugs to fit the action..or is there more involved? Are there other (simpler) options?

You start out with a piece of drill rod the same dia as the locking lugs. Then you turn the drill rod to the same dia as the bolt leaving one end the full dia. The mill off the excess of the full dia part to make a 'bolt head'. The 'bolt head' needs to be longer than the original bolt lugs to spread the load better. TLAR works ok here. Weld on another piece of steel rod to make a tee handle.

Why don't you measure

the bolt up and see if it is close to the size of a Rem 700 or another common sized bolt. There are wrenches readily available if the dimensions are the same or close. Perhaps Sinclair's can help you. Pete

I don't own an Icon but the one I saw at the NRA exhibition a couple years ago had an large bolt body diameter with recessed lugs, or so I remember. Still doable on the lathe but different then most other bolt guns.

there may be a reason they don't make one. never really seen one "customized" and it may be like that little tykes remington- I think they called it a 710 or something- and be pressed in. I also think it is setup like a 3 lug bat with a smaller lug area than the bolt, so any machinist with a dividing head can make you one. why are you taking it off?

I have 3...all were good shooters in 308....but I wanted something different so had one rebarreled to 6.5 X 47L and another to 260 Rem. I am now looking at one in 6BR... so I guess I'd better get a wrench so I can change them out without any fuss...or the cost/bother of going to a smith.
