Range Cover firing line advice

Some pics of range covers would sure help
Donald

I don't think that anyone has built a range cover with the idea of restricting the noise level for the neighbors yet. I am sure that it can be done at an increased expense. It might resemble a hay barn or a dug out or maybe a bunker. I believe that we will be seeing them in the future.

If you search for gun club web sites you can find some very good designs to protect the shooters from rain and sun. Some are better for sound to be sure but I don't think that many were designed primarily to cut down on sound.

Bill,

As a courtesy to the neighbors I extended sheets of cheap plywood between the benches on my last range. Using other scrap plywood I'd lean it against the face of the bench at an angle, directing the noise up into the sky. The decrease in side blast was remarkable! Neighbor only 500ft away remarked that he no longer noticed me shooting. This was simple redirection, no absorption at all.

Ugly but serviceable.
