How do you all get all your stuff to the range? Flags/stands, Cleaning stuff, Rests, etc......Is there any one type of box that is used or do you just find what ever will work?

I use whatever will work. I am always trying to simplify what I carry to the range. I have it down to a Pappas rest in the open, the rifle and cleaning supplies in one double gun case, wind flags and stands in another double gun case, and my ammo, timer, stapler, and other stuff in a pistol box. I put all of this in my Yukon then add an ice chest with ice and water for me and everyone else that I shoot with and I am good to go.

I have a big fishing tackle box ,the type that has drawers in it. It also has clear plastic boxes that I put brushes, mops -etc in. I carry tools solvents and oil(cleaning supplies in the drawers. You want to carry just what you need to clean your rifle to a match. You can take the minimum or you can lug a heavy box with you. it is just more weight to carry. garrisone.

That's most of my checklist. The 'Big Box' and the Reloading Box are the MTM big shooter's boxes. The ammo is in the big box, just want to jog the memory by having it on the checklist. The Small Box is a tackle box that has all my gunsmithing hand tools in it. The Cleaning Tray is the big MTM cleaning tray.

The Cleaning box is a tackle box that has all my brushes, jags, bore guides, etc. The cleaning rods are carried in the cardboard tubes they come in from Dewey. The windflags are in a plastic container from Lowes. Music stands placed on top of windflag container. Rests are placed in the rear passenger floor so they don't become missiles unless the SUV gets upside down. Rear bags are placed to keep the cleaning box from turning over. Decapping press is in a cardboard box.

Everything has a specific place in the cargo area. I take too much junk to have it fit in one or two big containers. Plus the weight would get out of hand.

for a range bag the one from midway @ $39 on sale is tough to beat, well built heavy material, zippers with the flags held between the handles. the bag will hold 20 boxes of ammo, tools, targets and about 20 magazines, the center hold of the bag will accomadete a S&W, cz,and a browning pistol with room for a stapler. best buy on a range bag. for the caldwell base/fudd top a gym bag with a pc. of heavy cardboard on the bottom.

I have one of Midway's gun cleaning kit boxes--like a big blue tackle box, plus a plastic milk crate--rectangular not square, that holds rest, ammo, and all the dozens of things I take but don't always need unless I don't have them. My spotting scope is in its own case, rifles in cases w/cleaning rod and that's about it unless it is hot or cold, then appriate beverages for me.

Best thing about my range is that the owner has retired and closed it to the public, so now there are about 3-4 of us that have access in addition to the local guy that teaches concealed handgun permit classes. I don't have to worry about the gang-banger with his street-sweeper, the tactical "wanna-be" guy with his AR going "rock and roll" or any of the other "distractions."

I have this one from lowes that is big enough to put 5-6 sets of flags with stands and ammo. I just need (I think one more) for cleaning stuff and tools. I can put my cleaning rod with my gun in case, Mmmm rear bag can go in one of the 2 boxes then just need to carry my rest. Its just so much and one place I like to shoot it is too many trips and I am almost to the point of getting one of those little pull carts I see in sinclairs.

Check out

the Stanley box with rollers that Walmart sells for under $25. I can get my Sinclair front rest, rear bag, spotting scope, and most everythig I need for a trip to the range. I shoot rimfire so don't need the cleaning equipment for my purpose. They make a larger box but it would be harder to get in and out of the vehicle when it is loaded. I can pick up the loaded small box and set in my pickup. But I am 74 and not as stout as I used to be. Maybe at 50 I could have handled the large box. Max

Check out your nearest Sears store in the tool section. They carry several large tote boxes with handles and wheels that work very well. I'd be surprised if you cannot find one large enough assuming you don't plan on putting the rifle and a one piece rest in it. bob finger

I got my stuff down pat pretty good, but I can't tell you how many times I get to the range only to discover I have forgotten one thing or another. A few times no big deal, borrow or whatever. But a few times, had to go back home, otherwise could not shoot.

I always wished I could afford to have a range vehicle, never have to load and unload, never forget anything .......

Thanks, Douglas
