Who makes the best hand primer tool? They all look the same to me.

I can't be sure who makes the best but I have used several and find the Sinclair to have the most sensitive feel.:D
With the supplies shims you can control how far the ram will push the primer into the pocket and consequently will get a very consistent seating depth..

Priming tool

For the money it's hard to beat the Lee Auto Prime tool. nhk

Here's my Vote! The best I've used to date. No fingers squeezing. Just a quarter inch push downwards with the palm of the hand and the job is done. :)

On this site. You will find a homemade front rest. You will also find a homemade arbor press with a priming tool that use's and inside punch, and support's the case 360 degree's. The tool has an adjustable seating stem. Someone is going to come along, and say, [that's to slow] but that's not the question.

How is it for sensitivity picking up when the primer bottoms?

I've had to use a K & M with the dial gauge since my arthritis kicked in. It works, but it's a r-e-a-l-l-y slow pain to use.

We give Scott a big kidding about his downsized little priming tool. I told him, "just admitt that the CAD Program was set on 1/2 scale":D........jackie

I can feel it each time when the primer bottoms. For me, I'd say it's sensitive. Art :)

The K & M was recommended to me over the Sinclair. Good feel, and I've been very happy with it's consistent seating depths. For a real luxury primer tool, check out Magnum Metal's version.

The Lee unit works better if you attach a block of wood to the lever so you can squeeze it by gripping, easier on the thumb. The Hornaday works pretty good. I have a Forester but don't use it much. Adjusting the shell holder is a pain and the small primers get sideways sometimes and if you let go of the handle it will bounce and push out a primer. Jon

I absolutely love my Sinclair priming tool. It is very very smooth, and the feel is awesome. In my opinion the Sinclair makes my Lee tool feel like a piece of junk. Now with all that said. I bought mine second hand for half the price they are new. I wouldnt pay 120 bucks for a new one. That's just a little to much! I havent used the K&M priming tool, but i do have other K&M Tools and they are very nice!! My Opinion only!! Lee

If you can find one made by Bill Gebhardt, you will see it as simple as simple gets.
Maybe Bob White at Shooters Corner has one. I don't know if Bill is still making his. A phone call would be worth it. After seeing all of what is offered , if I didn't already have an expensive one, it would be my first choice, with K & M second.
My opinion....

I purchased the RCBS. If that doesen't do the job I'll try another.

Priming Tools

I have most priming tools except the Sinclair. One that hasn't been discussed is the Lee without the tray. This tool is well designed and has the great feel like the original Lee which I highly recommend if you can find one.
