Pondering a terminal illness

As we all age it is human nature to ponder what is next as time grows shorter. Just remember the one with the most toys wins!!:D

Your OK Paul!

Sometimes I think I should take my Jesus fish off the Tahoe the way I let bad drivers get to me.

Paul,
It wouldn't be natural not to let some of those crazy drivers get on your nerves. There was a time that my daughter almost got run over by a crazy guy doing about 40 mph in a Wal-Mart parking lot. The thoughts that ran through my head, I can't post on here.

The Bible says in Ephesians 4:26, "be angry, but do not sin". It is how we react to those situations that make a difference. I'm certain you battle the flesh in those times just like the rest of us Christians.

Boss Hog,
You just leave me speechless! I hope those toys help you later.

LOL--thanks! Have been close to death more than once and it does not bother me anymore. Lost my sense of smell due to the head injury that tore my olfactory nerves loose about ten years ago while running with my daughter. A motorcycle (Boss Hoss not Hog but I understand you feeble attempt to get under my skin) with a Shafiroff 540ci, 705hp with 698ftlb's of TQ will make you see the light so to speak---every time you twist the throttle if you so desire.

Remember as you sit watching the setting sun fade -----"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- WOW--What a Ride!"

Am going to Nova Scotia (starting in Enfield and ending in Moncton) for the rest of the month on Monday so that will be one more place that I can mark visited on my "ride through life"! No regrets so far..

Sounds like the philosophy of all the mentally challenged skateboarders on MTV's "Scarred".:D

Sad....

If there is anything standing between them and God they have the time and opportunity to set things right. That is, if they believe there is a God and His word is true. For the atheist this doesn't matter. Those whose days are few and they know it they have the opportunity, for the man who is on his way home from work and some driver runs a stop sign and T-bones him killing him instantly he must face the Judgment just as he was at that moment. No time to repent or set things right.

...got these two emails just now and really hit home and reminded me of Mickey's post:

We have just received Confirmation that Cheri Sarver, beloved wife of Barney Sarver, was in a fatal car wreck this morning. The reports we have received say that she died instantly. We would like to ask that all of our church family be praying for the Sarver family during this time of loss.

And:

Men,

Barney has been there for us when we needed him and it is now our turn to be there for him. His wife Cheri was killed in a car accident this morning. As many of you know, he is in Washington, DC, this weekend to visit with two of his kids. He will be flying back tonight at 10 from the information that I have received. It would be a good idea for some of us to meet him there to show our support of him.

Steve

Cheri was the Principal of Covenant Christian Academy & Barney was in charge of the Men's Ministry of the Church my wife and I belong to. I'm sure she was close to many of the kids of her school, not to mention Barney being out of town. Lots of tears on this one.....they had 4 children.

Mickey,

If your thread saves just one soul, I would consider it the best post I've ever read on br.com.

Paul,
As you well know "we are not promised tomorrow" but as Christians we are promised a glorious eternity. We 'sow seeds' but somebody else 'waters' and yet another 'reaps the harvest'. I grieve with the husband who just lost his wife but as Vance Havner remarked when someone said that they had heard that he 'lost his wife', Bro. Havner said, "I haven't lost her, I know where she is."

Considering the way the world is headed I wouldn't go backwards a single day. I'm getting closer to Home all the time.
