pistol primers

Can I use Federal GM200M pistol primers in place of GM205M primers and get the same results? A friend gave me a brick of these primers and I would like to use them. I do not load any pistol cases.

If I recall it correctly, pistol primers have less robust primer cups so that they will fire readily with the generally less powerful ignition systems on handguns. I would be concerned that they might not be tough enough to use with higher pressure rifle loads.

No

Just about every re-loading manual printed warns against using pistol primers in place of Rifle Primers. The reason?? Lighter ignition and thinner cups........jackie

Ok

Thanks. That is what I needed. I will trade to someone who can use them and get the 205's.
