pin gages?

I almost think the op's talking about buying pin gages to use as expanding mandrels..... I'll _guess_ the technique would be to grind a taper on them and ram them into necks as expanders???

guessing here... but don't see why it wouldn't work.

Care to explain TrxR?

I made some from drill rod, chamfer and polish. I put them in my rcbs bullet puller collets and use them as expanders. I made mine .001” less than bullet diameter. Enough elasticity that they end up .002” less (.308 cal I’d make a .307” pin). Perfect for my needs.

I’ve some I carried around in my travel tool box for years.
Had’m verified more than once in some high end inspection rooms. Dead on.
You can get just the size you need. Don’t need to buy whole sets.
