Photos of my trigger guard for a Pierce receiver-More added

I have been working on a custom hunting rifle based on a CM Pierce receiver. It is a single shot bolt rifle with an octagon barrel. The pics are of the trigger guard. I do need to counter sink the screw holes and shape the bow.

Thought some of you might like to see this.
I will add the 2 photos after the hand work.

This is going to be a rust blued, wood stocked, hunting rifle in 6.5X47L. I may not have shown photos of the rest of the metal work.

This is the photo of the receiver with the Winchester 3 POS style safety, Shilen trigger, and scope bases that I made for the Talley Rings. The bolt handle is a combo of a Pierce Tactical handle at the root and an Obendorf style welded to the root of the other handle. Yes, it will clear the scope. Dan's Accu-Tig welded the bolt up and welded it to the bolt. He does wonderful work.

The second photo is of the octagon front banded sight. It will get a sight insert after bluing.

The last photo is with the sight installed. I did file the back of the ramp to square it up, but I don't have a photo of that. James Anderson,Gunmaker, on this forum cut the octagon for me.

I moved the recoil lug to the bottom of the receiver and used a Lilja CM barrel that was an 1.350 in diameter. I wanted a barrel that would be the size of the receiver. James Anderson will do the Australian walnut stock for me.

I have seen a few nice things of yours posted here.

I have a question.

Would you like to adopt an adult Canadian? :D

Vary nice metal blending on all your metal work. I look forward to seeing the final metal work.

Thanks Big Al, Dennis, Jim and others. Dennis, I sure wish that you lived closer inorder that I could watch you and learn from a real gunsmith. I love to do metal work, but would not be the least interested in doing it for a customer. I don't have any deadlines when I work for myself.

Very elegant metal work. The trigger guard reminds me of my FN Mauser Benchrest trigger guard.
Was that whittled out using a CNC mill, or some different method such as a rotary table on a DRO mill?

If you look at the first picture, you can see where the wire EDM cut the metal. It is very similar to the FN trigger guard. They are a little hard to find.

Nice work!
Make sure you get a good picture of the Australian Walnut stock! I am sure that is going to be just as fine as the rest of the metal you are doing!

You would split your sides laughing if you were around Jay Lynn, Randy Conder and myself.
Randy was making some high dollar windflags on Jay Lynn's Jig Bore and had a crash. Jay Lynn is painting his new handmade stock by using the soot from his torch to color the gel coat and brushing it on with his fingers. If I'm lying I'm dying! He has been sanding on it solid for 5 weeks and it is down to 3 lbs.
Good thing the Crown and Becks don't come out until 5pm.

Butch,

If you wired the profile, how did you get the radius on the bottom of the trigger bow? I'm guessing hand work?
Looks real good, however you got there.

Jay, the first 2 photos showed the EDM work. The last 2 showed the hand work. I'm working on the rear iron sight and it may be a scrap like the first one. Trying to get a tapered octagon on both the inside and outside is kicking my butt.

Compliments should go to Jay Lynn Gore also. He did the hand work on the trigger guard and polished the receiver. Know you wouldn't want to leave your good friend out Butch!

Hey Randy,
Did you guys finish the Crown? Yes, thanks Jay Lynn for his hand work and Randy for the moral support. Between the three of us a little work gets done from time to time.
