Perfect Ballistic Indoor 100 yard Range

I was asked to post about Openrange, our new 100 yard, perfect ballistic INDOOR RANGE in Crestwood Kentucky (just 20 minutes East of beautiful Louisville Kentucky).

We have the perfect set up to check your loads, scope, trigger, skill etc in a true 100 yard indoor 60 foot wide wind free tunnel. Our shooting tables are NRA spec concrete poured with no movement. Our target system is Mancom allowing you to set precise distances out to 100 yards measured in foot increments. Our air handling system places a 55 feet per minute wall of air (about a slow walking speed) direct downrange to place the minimum effect on ballistics yet keep the air clean and hygienic. The target carrier holds the target firm without movement yet will return to the shooter for examination. This allows for the most shooting and the least downtime when checking targets. The line is never called so you can shoot at your timing.

Benchresters tend to carry a large amont of reloading gear and normally clean their rifles after every 15 to 20 shots. Is there a place to set up 2X3 foot table for these two purposes.

I am not too far from your range and have thought about coming up and shooting there.

Barry, I to am a benchrest shooter, and interested in your range. I live in Shelbyville, Ky and can`t believe I missed your range. How long has it been there? How do you charge for your facilities? I too am interested in a cleaning and reloading space. thanks Johnnie

For your convenience we have a loading door where you can park nearest the range after you check in and unload all your equipment (so you don't have to wrestle coming through the showroom). We have large pull carts to load all of your equipment and take to the range. Our goal is to make this the best experience possible for you. Come in and we will take care of your needs.

We have access for handicap also so if you know any benchers who are handicaped we can accomodate as well.

Also, we have talked to some shooters who said they'd be interested in having an indoor match here so let us know if that is of interest and what you'd like to see.

We charge by the hour for the rifle range. After the first hour the rates go on 15 minute increment additions - 1/4 the hourly.

Example: Stay 2 hours and 45 minutes and you will be charged 2.75 x your hourly rate.

Non members pay $26 hour. The best idea is to buy a membership for $199 and the rate reduces to $15 hour during the week and $20 hour on the weekends. If you add another family member their membership is $139 with the same hourly for their own separate lane. If the family member wanted to share your lane their rate is an extra $13 an hour.

You can stay as long as needed during our open hours.

We have found that in one hour indoors at Openrange's ballistic perfect 100 yard tunnel with the computerised target retrieval system you can get the same amount of shooting compared to about 4 hours outdoors. And what you cant get outdoors at any cost is the perfect environment with digitally precise distances.

Wow! What a nice sounding facility. Can you show us some pictures of the rifle range, benches, etc.?

My local range is looking at the practicality of an indoor-range. Do you have info you can send me in re: design considerations, architect costs, building costs, operating costs? Looks like you have a terrific facility, probably more exotic than we could justify in rural VT, but very interested in your experiences. You can PM or email me.

We don't have unlimited shooting memberships. Our membership is $199 a year and $15 an hour on the weekdays, $20 hour on the weekends.

As far as design... get lots of concrete, about $500,000 in equipment costs and you're good to go! Plus of course construction costs. Not an easy thing.
