Penny Hadfield Shoots Back-To-Back's at Pinnacle

Man, oh man, you should have been there! No matter what else happened on this day, at Pinnacle Mountain nothing like what Penny accomplished has ever been done there before. Some have come close, but none have equalled what she did. And, in fact, very few have ever accomplished this feat anywhere in the country. She is now one of the very few who have ever shot back-to-back 250's in the 3-Gun. My question now is: is she the first women to accomplish this? I know of several great women shooters, like Inez and Janet to name two, who are worthy, but has any other woman actually succeeded in posting back-to-backs?

And, when you look at the total picture Penny's feat becomes even that much more impressive. She not only shot back-to-back 250's, but she did so while having to face the challenges of RAIN, THUNDER and LIGHTNING. And, when I say lightning, I mean a few serious claps that wheren't all that far away.

SIMPLY REMARKABLE!!!!!!!!

And, how did the rest of us do you ask? Here's what everything looked like at the end of the day:

SPORTER CLASS
1.) TODD BANKS 244-9X

2.) Penny Hadfield 239-9X
3.) Al Hadfield 239-9X

10.5# CLASS
1.) PENNY HADFIELD 250-19X

2.) Todd Banks 249-14X
3.) Mark Rocheleau 245-10X

13.5# CLASS
1.) PENNY HADFIELD 250-18X

2.) Todd Banks 249-18X
3.) Michael Gallant 249-15X

I also want to welcome a new shooter into the ranks. David Lee Valdina joined in the fun on Saturday. I want to wish him the best of luck with his newly acquired 40X and know that he will enjoy it more than he may now realize.

We also held an AGBR match which started shortly after the IR match concluded. Nothing quite so awsome happened there, although Todd Banks was quite impressive as he shot a very nice third target with a score of 243-2X, but having only two shots that were clearly not a 10 or X, and finishing with an agg of 724-9X. Those score appear below:

UNLIMITED CLASS
TARGET #1
1.) TODD BANKS 239-2X

2.) Paul Bendix 230-1X
3.) Dave Shattuck 228-0X

TARGET #2
1.) PAUL BENDIX 244-4X

2.) Todd Banks 242-5X
3.) Dave Shattuck 221-2X

TARGET #3
1.) TODD BANKS 243-2X

2.) Paul Bendix 240-3X
3.) Dave Shattuck 232-2X

I want to thank everyone who came and helped out as, once again, without your help these matches would not be possible.

Congratulations to Wifey!

As Dave said, the conditions were about as bad as it can get, especially in the Sporter and 10.5, completely different conditions for the 13.5.

Congratulations to Mike, Todd and Mark for giving Penny a run for her money…You notice Hubby was a “also ran.”

And Todd, those are great back to back 249’s!!! :D Some day you will get that elusive Pinnacle Mountain 250.

Al

You gotta know Todd...just having you present inspires me to do my best...I know that you are always on your toes and ready to take home the winning targets...which you do so frequently! Maybe next month it'll be your turn and you'll get that Pinnacle Mtn 250 yourself...maybe 2? Penny

Dave,
Thanks for running the match. A good time was had by all. Wind flags were blowing over even with 10 lbs of weight on them. I am glad it was windy as the black fly's were not too bad.

Penny Great looking targets, I am glad Al took a picture that you can see the targets.
Good shooting Todd , Mike , Mark and AL. Barry nice talking and shooting with you again.

David Lee good luck with your new toy.

Todd at least my gun won the AGBR, Too bad it wasn't me shooting it.
also thanks for my new toy.

Paul

Al,

Has Penny stopped smiling yet?

And, I wasn't going to bring it up about Todd's having another near miss ...twice... at Pinnacle. But, now that we are on the subject, it just doesn't seem possible that someone as skilled and talented as Todd who has shot 250's everywhere under the sun other than at Pinnacle, and, at most ranges more than one, has been made to wait this long.

Todd, I may kid with you about your near misses, but you have no idea how much I want you to accomplish this one goal. And, if I could do anything to chase that demon away, I would!

Someday it will come, and as no surprise to anyone.

Dave

Penny fantastic shooting and a BIG Congratulations. I was hoping there would be 2 of them, one from Al and the other from you but just the same. I am really proud of your accomplishment. You both keep up the awesome shooting.

Also, Congrats to Todd and everyone else, nice shooting.

Take Care,
Joe

One thing I noticed about Todd is that he is very consistent in his shooting, he may just miss some 250's, but the 249's keep stacking up. Pretty soon Todd the 250's will be the norm for you.

Penny and Al, each match I shoot with you I gather another of your tidbits of wisdom about how to score high in this game. Benchrest 22 rf is 100% mental, with another 50% being a great rifle and the ammo to match.

Dave - you run a wonderful match!

Thanks to all - it was a lot of fun.

Best,
Michael

Congratulations Penny on some fine shooting. Al, Todd and all of the Pinnacle Mountain shooters, nice job. I look forward to seeing all of you at the Tom Miller Memorial at Salem in August.

Penny,
Some of my most enjoyable matches have been while shooting against you. I've seen you buckle down time and time again when you know I'm getting close, and I'm happy to see you win, Anytime! To see you shoot back to back 250's at that #$%^ Pinnacle Mtn range was something special!

Dave,
You've got one heck of a tough range to shoot. I wonder if anyone has ever done a "targets shot to 250's shot" analysis. I know for a fact that Pinnacle is the hardest range I've ever shot!
Todd

Thanks all for your kind words...I love to shoot and it is undeniably satisfying to do well! Great days like last Saturday are few and far apart though, but they sure are fun when they happen! Happy shooting everyone! Penny

Great shooting, Penny. Show them what the girls can do. You cleaned my clock at the Nationals last year. Congratulations.
Jim

Penny,
Congratulations on some fine shooting! The smile on your face tells the story! Hope you shoot many more 250's in the future as well.

Thanks, Jim...but I cleaned YOUR clock? Seems I remember you took top honors! You are doing great again this year...congratulations to you too!

Thanks, Kevin...trust we'll be seeing you at the Tom Miller? It'll be fun shooting with you again!

Thanks, Kent...looks like you have the season well in hand...right up there near the top of "the List"...keep it up!

It appears that 250s are getting to be much more common now...better guns, better ammo, etc...but they are still rare for me and it is a lot of fun to shoot them!

Penny

Thanks Penny,
I did ok the first day, but had a sporter fail on the second. You are truly an amazing lady.
