Pellet Weighing and Grouping Pt. 1 Pt 2

What I have found in the past

when sorting 30 Cal bullets by weight, there only seemed to be a detectable difference with extreme in the group sorted. What mattered a lot more is sorting the bullets by Ogive Slope length. This length determines the OAL of the loaded round and/or seating depth.

It might logically follow that head size be a more telling indicator as to the consistency in accuracy of pellets.

Hi Pete,
In the Wild River Airguns (So. Oregon), those shooting FWBs are not weighing OR lubing our pellets. However, my rifle definately does NOT like 4.52 head size pellets.
Depending on the lot number (MOST important), my gun usually likes 4.51s followed by 4.50s. We have
2 favorites, both H&N and at least once a year order an assortment of lot numbers (1 tin each) to test. If the cost is divided up between 3 or 4 with the testing done
by the same shooters indoors the cost isn't bad. If we find a good match or backup quality lot number, we order a bunch. Divided among those who paid for all, of course.
Mike
