Pacnor Barrels

Thanks

Thanks for posting that Nat. I have restrained myself from responding to this as I was hoping it would work itself out. I buy mostly Pac Nor barrels these days. Customer service has been above and beyond. Once, Chris spent a considerable amount of time teaching me over the phone how to make an octagon barrel out of a blank.

I buy Kiff reamers and Pac Nor barrels for the same reason. I can count on honest help from the owners.

I have a custom contoured PacNor barrel in 25WSSM on a Model 70 super short action. The barrel is 16.3" long and as thin as I could talk them into making - thinner than a Featherlight contour. The gun has a Leupold Custom Shop 2-7X Ultralight scope with a Long Range reticle built for my hand loads. The barrel has seen 420 rounds through it. After the load was developed and the new scope was sighted in the gun has never been shot off the bench again - I practice real field shooting with it, as I will experience in the mountains. Thursday I fired 20 rounds of my 110gr Accubond handloads lying prone with the rifle on a backpack. At 300 yds the rifle put ALL 20 shots into 1.87". I would fire 3 rounds in rapid succession, let the barrel cool to the touch, then repeat this process through the last 2 rounds shot. The barrel was meticulously cleaned by PacNor's recommended process prior to leaving for the range, but at no time did I clean the gun during my range session.
The rifling in this barrel DOESN'T look as deep as that in other rifles I have in the safe - so what - it works.
The best recommendation I can give anyone is that this isn't the first PacNor barreled rifle I've had, I'd buy another one, and I'm betting the last hunt of my Grand Slam of N. American Sheep on a PacNor barrel this year. If you know what it costs to sheep hunt you'll know how big an endorsement that is in their barrels and service.
