The first aniversary of my retirement was 8-28-2009. I decided the second day of my retirement that I was going to try to ENJOY every single day I had left in my life going forward. It takes a bit of convincing one's self that they are worthy of just doing nothing after having worked from age 15 but I got there by November.
One of the things I decided to do was to try to realize where I was in the great scheme of things and to that end I decided to simply have as much fun as I could within my means. Sure, I probably shouldn't have bought the 7k bullets or that keg of powder but I did and I have it to use going forward. I have had enough cash to stay a bit ahead of the bill collector and all is well.
I decided to take whatever luck hands to me and just enjoy being there. There is no point in doing anything one does if they don't enjoy doing it and don't agnonize over the results. Life is all about being at pease with one's self I think. So, If I do well at a shoot I am pleased and if I finish at the bottom of the stack I am still pleased that I was able to be a part of this great sport of Benchrest. Being There is way more important than where one finishes. I still like the acalades but I realize I won't always get them.
Retirement is waaaaay under-rated.
