Off the rack 700 VLS

Keep us informed. I have a sweet 7x57 myself

I have pretty much given up on H4831. Supposed to be the powder of choice for .270 ..not for me. Supposed to Noslers accurate powder for 7x57 for 150 grain bullets...not for me. I have had better luck with 4320 and Varget in my 7x57 and IMR 4350 for the 270. Trying H4350 for 160 grain partitions now in my 7x57. Heavy bullet I know but that is what I have. Trying to conserve my Varget.

414 is said to work but ive never had any it was just in some load data that was in some brass I got from a bud. I use imr 4350 and 140gr

My results so far. Data on target. I plan on trying either seating .010 below and above or BR primers. I can seat to the lands with this custom and still feed from magazine. Probably try changing the seating. Striving for clover leaf.

If I decide to take this gun elk hunting this will be the load. MPR with this aimpoint 255 yds with 1663 lbs/ft. I know a lot of people would say under gunned but I do not believe it at reasonable ranges.

What twist do you have? Thats very heavy for normal twists in a 7x57. I bet a 140 would tighen that right up

The twist is 1-9. That is what I had on hand. I ordered a box of Swift A frames at 140. Was not the standard military round 175? I would use the 140's on white tail but not elk if that is what I choose to use.

I continue to be impressed by the quality of my Remington 700 VLS. After working up a load with Varget for Sierra's 155 Palma I was able to achieve the results posted in the picture. I know it is only three rounds but I have probably put 160 rounds through the barrel working up the load.View attachment 15057

I am waiting on a shipment of 175 grain match to try next. I also have found better results using Rem 9 1/2 LR primers and PRVI brass

Well it took me a while to get to the range with my 700 and 175 grain MKs. Here are the results with 43 grains of 4064. Pure stock rifleRem700VLS.jpg
