Is nosler brass acceptable? I can get it locally for 40.00 in lot of 50 pc.. it says its weighed.. Will i still need to turn the necks?.. thanks dave

The .308 stuff we got in Australia was a tad soft, but if you're planning only to load it once...........

I had the same problem(soft) with Nosler 300RUM brass

thw wind is my firend,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Considered buying some for live varmit rifles. Changed my mind after reading several negative reports, i.e., soft brass, inconsistent primer pockets, etc.

I use Nolser cases for one of my 223Rem rifles. Out of the 50 I bought and having reloaded them a number of times I have had 1 split neck.
I must admit of the 100 Lapua I bought for another 223Rem rifle I have not had any split necks and just about the same number of reloads. I neck resize only and continually check for length and inspect for problems.

Nosler

I set out to weigh the 22-250 brass. After 20 rounds I quit because it was so consistent. Neck runout is almost zero, and it has reduced my groups by .182" down to .323" compared to Remington Brass. No split necks on the first firing.
I wish Lapua made 22-250 brass.

i have 400 pieces of nosler brass in 22-250. they have all been reloaded many times without problems. the one problem i do have , is they seem thick walled. the case capacity is lower than other brands ive tried.

Nosler Brass..

I bought some 300 Win Mag and there were lenght, and neck thickness problems problems and I called Nosler. They acknoweged they knew they had problems but offered no remedy to me at the time. They charged a premium price for their product. I would never buy nosler brass again. Any company that knows their have a problem with their product and continues to sell it without offering compensation, borders on being crooked.

In my opinion if the brass you need is made by Lapua then get Lapua.

If not then Norma, WInchester Federal, or Remington. As with all cases some are better than others. With 223 it is hard to beat LC brass. If it is a 30 based cartridge LC Match brass is also hard to beat.

Nosler is.......

made by NORMA!!!! Why pay the premium price to get NORMA, that you can get elsewhere for the same price as....NORMA?????:D

Yup, Nosler brass is very inconsistant in length and pocket size. I've had the primers fall out of brand new cases. Doesn't make much sense. Nosler makes great bullets. Lapua cases is the way to go.

The only problem w/Lapua was,.........

when i spoke w/them, they adamantly maintained they had NO plans to make 6MM Rem. or 7X57, sssoooooooo, one looks to Norma, yes, it may NOT BE MADE by NORMA, however, that doesn't do us any good, because it is sold by NORMA, & that is who NOSLER contracted with, NORMA, to produce their brass.
Now, the thing to do is, to contact NORMA, & ask them, "Hey, I got some REALLY neat $**t from you guys back in 'ought two, could you lemme have some more jus' like it???" & see what they have to say, you might get lucky, OR, you may have to look elsewhere. Maybe, instead of fruitlessly trying to find out who did or didn't make it for NORMA, we should(fat chance) put pressure on WIN(or lose), Hornady, etc. to produce brass that is marketed JUST FOR handloaders, i.e. a two-tiered product like BLAZER vs. regular brass(fat chance, AGAIN)The last choice is to, "vote w/your feet", via your pocketbook, by buying something that works. Has anyone shot Privi Partizan from Czech, yet??? Its supposed to be pretty good, but I haven't had the opportunity to try it as yet, & probably won't until some of this election crap dies down, if ever. GOOD LUCK.:D:D

Their .280AI brass rocks!!!! Not gonna hold out for Lapua on that case.

Brian....I don't know if Norma makes all of their own brass or not but they don't supply all of the brass that Nosler sells. I happen to live within a few hundred yards of a Nosler rep. and will try to find out the rest of the story if I can catch him at home. I know of at least one other supplier because a close relative works for the supplier.

Thought I read on the net somewhere that Federal was making some of it.

Nosler Brass

I tried some .300 RUM and it was soft. Primer pockets expanded. Called Nosler and they finally admitted they had some problems. I asked for some type of compensation, they said someone would call me a couple days. That was seven months ago, still waiting on the call. Remington Brass works great in my .300 RUM

Hey RAG, I ......

would be very interested in any info you're able to uncover on that subject, I don't always get to come back to some of those posts, so in addition to posting, would you be good enough to PM me as well???

I thought ya'll were being a little harsh on this subject until reloading some once fired .243 nosler brass this weekend. Granted they were loaded hot, the primers fell out of several cases. Never has loose pockets with any other brass after multiple firings. I will shoot them once and throw them away. 5 boxes worth.

Nosler brass

Ive used Nosler for22-250 and .243 win I still needed prep and it was FAR from weight sorted. Id rather use Win brass for cheaper, a tiny bit more prep and the same or better results. (for Hunting) For BR I use Lapua.
