How long is your Noodle?

I have one of the MT Guns Martini Mk III's with a Harrel tuner. It shoots great but I am always looking for more.

I thought I would give the noodle a try but am wondering which you guys have found works best - the long noodle or the short one?

I have 3 match barrel for my Hall and they all shoot better with the short noodle on and since I’ve been using the noodle I’ve shot 6 score nationals for 3 wins one 2nd one 3rd that’s with 3 different barrels but the same noodle. So in my case having a Pappas noodle is a gooooood thing.

Thanks for the replies.

BUT WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THE DELETED POSTS?

Like Peter from Australia I've also shot with the short base one and done extremely well with as it helped me win the UK Nationals LV and HV aggregate trophies.

How does a Noodle affect the existing tune? Let's say one has a rifle shooting three shots into one bullet hole. Will the extra weight of the Noodle require moving the tuner to find a new tune setting or do they simply enhance what one has?

Pete,

On my 3 match barrels only one of them will shoot on the same tune if I take the noodle off. So the answer is depends on the barrel. But shooting a 3 shot group wouldn’t tell me anything, I find shooting targets is the only thing that tells the real truth about tune.

No one bothered answering what a "noodle" is but as I read through all this it almost seems that a noodle is a tuner for a tuner that does not work properly.

Hay Vern,
The noodle enhances the tuner in a very different way. With the different size wholes it allows the gases to pass through so helping to stabilise the bullet before flight. As tuning I haven't found that I've has to make that much adjustment of the tuner.

Hya Vern,
Just to add to my last post, just to let you know and other members I've started a group on Facebook that is called the Benchrest Show and there will be video blogs on topics and news. So if you have a Facebook account then come and join the group. The first episode is about the JJ noodle and also the mid-barrel tuner.

Andy I cannot find your group can you help get me there?
