Hi gang.
Been lurking around here for some time...finally decided to join. Just started in long rang BR shooting. I picked up my first BR rifle this last Thursday and will be shooting in a 600yrd IBS match on Sunday.

Here are the specs of my new rifle:

BAT M action RB RP
Kreiger 28" 1.250 1:7:5 twist in 6XC
McMillan MBR stock
Jewell trigger at 2 oz.
BAT 20 MOA base
Noght Force 12-42X BR scope
NF rings

I had little time for load development, but was able to do some break in shooting and found a load that will work for the match in the little time I had.
Did no case prep to the brass..straight out of the bag and into the press. Using Norma brass, RL-17 powder, Wolf LR magnum primers and 107 SMK's. Ended up with 39.1gns that shot right about .3"
Looks like this rifle will be a shooter....waiting on some H4350 and will be switching to the 115 DTAC's and 115 VLD's. I think with some more load development, and me getting a "feel" for the rifle...I think it will work out good.

Take care,Stan

Nice looking rifle, let us know how you do in the match.
I've used the 115 DTAC's in my 243 with H1000 and they've shot great at 1K.

Stan, good luck at 600 tomorrow, dont limit yourself tho, try to make it to the 1000 yard matches as well, that cal will work great! VERY nice looking rifle. If you can work it in, try shooting with the Sac Valley guys, great bunch of shooters and a top notch place to shoot. tell them that I sent you. Ron Tilley

I am just curious if you have weighed your rifle yet? Have 2 almost identical setups with Krieger tapered barrels and barely make weight.

Good luck in your match.....I sense a heavy gun in your future!

Thanks guys.

Well my buddy and I went to the 600yrd match this morning. Very nice cond. for the first couple of relay's...cloudy,cool, and very little wind. There were 16 shooters today.

I did not do as well as I would have liked to, but did place 4th. The better news is my buddy (shooting my rifle) came in 2nd. So the rifle looks like it's competitive. Groups were around 3" or so....and with some more load work I am pretty sure I can get them down a bit more.

Ron...everyone says HI! Randy won the match for high score and Bob R. had small group. Don R. had best target.
I will be shooting in the 1000yrd match in two weeks and Joe H. and I are planning a trip to Sac to shoot a 1000yrd down there.

Take care,Stan

Hey BBB,

How did you keep the rifle cool with you and your buddy both shooting it?

Hi Al.
We were shooting in different relay's...it was about 20-30 min. before he shot with it and it had cooled off by then. Temps were in the low 70's and we had cloud cover plus a little bit of wind.

I bought myself a small battery powered table top fan, but forgot to bring it. I plan on having it blow across the barrel to help keep things cool.

Take care,Stan
