New Scope

I'm shopping around for a new scope-a more powerful one. The one I have an eye on has 1/4 minute MOA adjustment. I've always had 1/8" MOA adjustment and never have even tried a 1/4". The question is, based on your experience, am I going to miss the 1/8" with the finer adjustment? This is on a 6 BR shooting 500 meters.

Thanks for any help here.

1/4 in at 500 is 1.25...is that close enough for you ??

Thanks for your reply. What I'm after is others' experience shifting from 1/8 to 1/4 and whether it was a problem for them.

on this forum..it is mainly 100/200 sometimes 300 yd short range benchrest.....seldom see a 1/4 click scope in this area.
try the 600/1000 yd forum.....but dont hold your breath for 1/4 click scopes there either...

Most of the shooters like the 1/8 min click scope way better. Especially when shooting for groups.
The advantage is being able to dial in closer.

"Shooting for groups" rang my bell. I'm no competitor but that's what I like doing the most so that sure leans things in the direction of a 1/8 MOA scope.

1/8

If you are shooting for groups, the click value would appear to matter less. If you are shooting for score, it might matter more. The reason being that you would be able to tune in on the x ring a little better on a 1/8 than a 1/4, but that is the opinion of an F-class shooter, not a benchrester.

Going from 1/8 to 1/4 MOA clicks is a step backwards I would never take unless I could not possibly avoid it. I really do not understand Gerry's statement, IMO a 1/4 scope is not bad for Group shooting but very much a handicap for any kind of score shooting.
