New Registrations

Regarding post # 1 above, a request for new membership was received this morning. I sent an email to the address shown on the request that said:

"You recently requested to register as a new member on Benchrest Central. Before I approve your request please reply to this email and explain your understanding of the first sentence in the fourth paragraph of the "Terms and rules" (link is at the bottom of the "Forums" page).
Regards,

It will be interesting to see if I get a response. No response, no approval. :)

Good morning folks. My name is James and I live in northwest Louisiana. I am just getting started with both long range shooting and reloading, so I walk in here with the attitude that I am pretty much like John Snow...I know nothing. I found out about benchrest.com from Boyer's book The Book of Rifle Accuracy. My plan, besides reading this book, is to comb through the posts of this site.

So here is what I currently have equipped to start my journey: a Sig Sauer Cross PRS 6.5 Creedmoor rifle; a Rodzilla Raptor front rest and a Protektor Model Rabbit Ear rear bag. And yes, I am sure the rifle I chose is not the best, but its the best I knew at the time and could afford.

As far as reloading, I just finished up my reloading desk. Its only 4' long, but that is the longest I could make it and still have it fit in the room its in. I have a Redding T7 reloading press; a full sizing die, and their mandrel neck die with all the mandrels for 6.5 Creedmoor.

So now you guys/gals know where I am coming from when I ask questions...and there will probably be a lot of them. :)

Great to meet you folks.

James (icypher).

sell the rifle, buy a used long range br rifle in 6br/6bra/6 dasher , 6,5x47 or 300 wsm. the turret can be sold and an arbor press and a solid single stage press purchased. do no continue spending on a rifle and cartridge that are seldom if ever seen in long range br. we do not use mag fed rifles, single shot. the 2026 ibs 1000 yd nationals were just posted, the equip list should be out soon. where are you ??/

James, welcome to Benchrest. You have to start somewhere and participating is the first step. There are several shooters in Louisiana that you could have mentor you with how to get started. Hopefully a few will see your posts and they will be big help for you I am sure. You will change quite a few things as you learn the game but the joy comes in learning what makes it all happen and the knowledge you gain. Give it a try with what you have and have fun along the way.
