Just talked with R Haydon on the phone this morning.
I asked him if Leupold was planning to come out with
a new Benchrest scope. He said yes but didn't have
any specifics to share with me.

Can anybody on this forum provide any insight about
this new scope as to features, specs, cost, availibility
etc???

Thanks.....Vic

Well, this could be classified as a grossest of rumors. A real friend of a friend said deal. However, my contact has been very knowledgable about some aspects of the benchrest scene. So take it for what you paid for it...

I heard that Leupold will be introducing a new line of scopes that they expect to be "world class". I believe that to be regarding S&B, USO, Swarvo, etc. Supposed to involve carbon fiber tube and complete redesign of the guts. No more details than that, but I think it was supposed to be this year. Maybe they'll intro it at the Shot show. I guess it's supposed to be priced accordingly.

what in blazes does "world class" mean? How is it defined so as to bring some specifics of this potential new scope to light? Thanks --Greg

My solution would be go to the horses mouth for the true info. Not the other end because the end is full of ****.

Up about the horses middle

In the 2007 BR season Leupold had 4 prototype BR scopes out for testing. Boyer had one design, Jim Carmichel had another that was shared with Allen Tucker and I forget who had the other two. Some of those scopes were on guns that won.

They were part graphite fiber and all looked some different from each other. At that time Leupold had not made a decision of final product design or prices.

Maybe this years SHOT show??

It they make anything but - -

A fixed internal scope and offer good adjustable mounts, they are waisting everyone's time.

Shot Show

Hey Guys,

Anybody got any info on the 2008 Shot Show???

Dates and location....Vic

PS Thanks for the reply Hayseed!!!

I doubt that

Hey Pete, what if they make your locked up scope obsolete?????

It seems quite simple to me. To try to make a scope with movable parts INSIDE and expect it to be 100% solid and accurate for a long period of time is STUPID! Note the guarantee on the March, for instance. Have you watched the computer rendition of a rifle being fired in exagerated slow motion that Varmint Al put up here? -:)
