Doug Shea has shot a great target at the Holbrook Indoor range. Breaking Mark Stillwell's old record. It is noteworth that Doug almost had two other "X's".

Doug has really been shooting well. Back in Oct he shot three back to back 250's in their match , winning with an overall three target agg of 750-21X

I believe that Doug shot his record target with 22 cal JSB pellets in his Theoben Rifle.

He really has his rifle shooting well.

Congratulations Doug! Phenomenal shooting...

Having been a participant in that match myself and seeing the target first hand, it is truly an awesome and inspiring sight!!! I've been watching for the official recognition of it to show up...

Again, my heartfelt congratulations...

Have a Happy Thanksgiving,
Mitch & Shadow...

Doug, once again I congratulate you! One of the things that made me feel better is, I was the guy who was holding the plug when scoring that target and, until verified, always wonder if you had made a mistake. Glad (relieved) it's now official.

On a side note : After the match was over Doug commented to me on how he thought he could better tune the gun as he felt there was still some wavering left  in the barrel that he felt he could get worked out. Can you believe that? He thinks the gun can shoot even better than a 250-14X? Doug, the gun has already shot better than any other Airgun on the face of the planet, and only missed a 16X score by a hair! Just how much better than that are you looking for? Gees, I had better watch out what I'm saying here cause we've got another match in just a week and a half, and I would like to at least think I had some sort of a chance of being able to do something other than shake Doug's hand again ...and again ...and again. :D :D :D

Doug,
Great shooting. I tried to scan your target before I sent it off to Ron but took a picture instead. Hope it comes out alright.

I wish that I took a picture of the 2500 you shot on a ARA target after the AGBR match was over. That was a pretty target!! All 25 bulls touching the center dot. NO PLUG needed to score that target!

Hope to see everyone on the 5th of Dec.

Thanks guys,I always have fun at our matches. We have a good group of shooters and I consider myself lucky to be able to shoot with all of you.
Paul, thank you for the hard work you put into each and every match without your extra effort the fun factor would not be the same.
I hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving.

Interesting comment Dave... I was gonna lambast Doug for sitting on his butt and not trying hard enough to get a decent score. Sheesh Doug -- you can do better than 250-14X!!! :D

..or in other words, great shooting buddy. It's amazing what you've achieved with pushing the edge of the benchrest air rifle.

Best,
Michael

Pics!!!

Doug,

Great shooting!

Lets see a pic of your rifle all set for shooting in the front and rear rest you use.

Great Target Doug!! I bet you'll get those other close X's before the end of the Winter. Just a little more tinkering;)

Way to go Doug
I knew my score wouldn't hold up all year. That will be hard to beat (250 / 14 x) with how I've been shooting lately. Don't you hate when the plug is that close. Happened on my target & kept me from getting the 750. Awesome shooting Doug.

Thanks again guys, did you ever ask yourself why we chose this sport , with all of the ups and downs the ever changing equipment tweaks and the hours of practice we put in. We work hard to build something then wonder how long it will last and if we can improve upon it the next time our chance comes.
I cant explain it , we must be nuts:eek:...but it is fun.
